Mayor Stimpson Congratulates Local Track Athletes

Mobile Ala.- Mayor Stimpson congratulated 40 track athletes as they head to compete in the regional competition.

"It is incredible that we are sending so many talented athletes to represent Mobile at regionals," said Mayor Stimpson. "I wish the athletes good luck and cannot wait to hear about their success upon their return."

The Mobile Parks and Recreation team is currently training for the AAU Regional Track Meet which will be held in Knoxville, TN from July 1st until July 2nd. The team will send 40 athletes ages 6-17.

While qualifying during the District Meet, the following athletes achieved these personal bests:

Aaliyah Brown Muhammad 1st Long Jump - 16'11.25 1st 100m Hurdles - 15.87
Garrion "Trey" Betts 1st Long Jump - 21'3.50 1st Triple Jump - 36'5.75
Jordan Lang 1st 100m - 13.0 1st Triple Jump - 33'9.50
Kenya Brewer 1st 800m - 2:59.68
Albert "Rosco" Haywood 1st 800m - 2:43.93
