Mayor Stimpson awards City of Mobile Employees of the Month

Aug 19th, 2015

MOBILE, Ala. - Mayor Sandy Stimpson today announced the two newest members of his Employee Recognition Program.

Faith Koppersmith, Fire Code Administrator, was selected as the City of Mobile’s Employee of the Month for July and Sheila Campbell, Deputy Director of Human Resources, was selected as Employee of the Month for August. They will each receive a $500 bonus for their exemplary work performance.

The City first hired Campbell in 2008 as the Employee Benefits Manager in the Human Resources Department. She was promoted to Deputy Director of Human Resources in 2013. She has been recognized with several awards for her work in promoting wellness and has served as the City’s United Way Key Person for the last three years.

“Sheila is a true professional with a natural ability to take charge when needed, resolve conflict and handle problems up front,” said Mayor Stimpson. “No matter what the obstacle is, she keeps the staff motivated and focused.”

Koppersmith began working for the City in 2000 in the Parks and Recreation Department as a Secretary II until she was promoted to a Secretary III in the Urban Development Department. In May, she transferred to the Fire Code Administration under the Mobile Fire-Rescue Department’s Bureau of Fire Prevention.

“In her transition from the Urban Development Department to the Bureau of Fire Prevention, Faith has provided continuity between departments,” said Mayor Stimpson. “She has worked countless hours, including evenings and weekends, without hesitation or complaint.”

Mayor Stimpson began the Employee Recognition Program immediately after stepping into his office to reward employees who use innovation to reduce costs and improve services for the citizens of Mobile. He sets aside $50,000 of his mayoral salary each year to fund the program.
