Mayor Stimpson Announces Step Up! Initiative

Sep 13th, 2016

Mobile, Ala. - Mayor Stimpson has announced his Step Up! initiative challenging Mobilians to take the stairs.

Starting on October 1st, participants have until November 1st to log onto www.stepjockey.com to log the flights of stairs they have walked for a chance to win various prizes.

Along with logging their progress, contestants are encouraged to post to social media using the hashtag #StepUpMobile to show themselves taking the stairs. The photo with the most likes or favorites will receive lunch with the Mayor.

Don't have stairs? Not a problem. You can record the amount of steps you take at work and still be eligible to participate.

"Taking the stairs is something small everyone can incorporate into their day and receive a huge reward in the long run," explained Mayor Stimpson. "Stair climbing burns more calories than jogging, helps control weight and improves muscle tone."

For climbing over 50 flights participants will receive a t-shirt and the participant with the most flights climbed will receive an opportunity to meet the Mayor.
