Mayor Stimpson announces new administrative appointments
Mobile, Ala. — Four key positions within the leadership team at the City of Mobile have recently been filled through appointments by Mayor Sandy Stimpson. Those include the Director of Public Services, Director of Animal Services, Director of Community Affairs/City Council Liaison, and the Director of the Office of Strategic Initiatives.
Robert Bryant, Director of the Animal Services:
Robert Bryant was recently appointed to serve as the Director of the City of Mobile’s Department of Animal Services. After spending more than a decade working with the Montgomery Humane Society, most recently as Chief Humane Officer, Robert has extensive knowledge of the investigation and prosecution of animal cruelty cases. He believes in community-based solutions and working with residents to protect the animals and people in Mobile. Robert joins the Animal Services Department during a time of transformation and growth. His experience and leadership will help our staff members continue building community partnerships, establishing new programs and expanding public education.
Keysha Brown, Director of Community Affairs and City Council Liaison:
Keysha Brown has been working with Mayor Stimpson’s administration as a liaison to the Mobile City Council since November 2021. While she will continue serving in that important role, Keysha will also be leading the newly created Department of Community Affairs. Keysha spent years in Texas working in global operations for a major company and later served as the Executive Director of a nonprofit that served homeless youth in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Just before joining the City, Keysha worked as the Property Coordinator and Disadvantaged Business Liaison Officer for the Mobile Airport Authority. Her diverse experience and strong ties to the community make Keysha a great asset to the City of Mobile.
Marc Vassallo, Director of Public Services
As Director of Public Services, Marc oversees five major sub-departments, including Fleet Management, Sanitation, Urban Forestry, Public Services Maintenance, and Administration. These departments manage and maintain all essential services for the City and its residents. Marc previously served in the United States Air Force as a Deputy Commander for Maintenance, where he managed hundreds of airmen and millions of dollars in budgets and assets. Marc retired in 2022 after more than 32 years of service. Marc’s military and management experience are a great fit for leading some of the City’s most critical services.
Jayson D’Alessandro, Director of the Office of Strategic Initiatives
Graduating from Auburn University with an Industrial "Product" Design degree with a minor focus in business, Jayson started his career designing for a retail solutions agency in the Greater New York and San Diego areas. Working with many global brands to develop in-store fixtures, he gained experience in client relations, brand adoption, marketing strategy, materials, manufacturing processes, and budget awareness. In 2015 he took on the Senior Design position with the Bloomberg Innovation Team and the City of Mobile to develop innovative city-wide solutions using Design Thinking and Human-Centered Design Methodologies. After nearly seven years of transitioning his skill set from products to services and the team into an official city department, Jayson has now taken up the role of Director of the Office of Strategic Initiatives.
