Mayor Stimpson announces community meetings

Mar 25th, 2014

MOBILE, Ala. - Mayor Sandy Stimpson announced the first of a series of community meetings to hear from citizens about important issues facing their neighborhoods and the City of Mobile.

The meetings will give citizens direct access to the mayor and to senior members of his administration. Stimpson said the meetings are part of his plan to engage citizens in a conversation about the future of Mobile.

"As a candidate for mayor, I promised to run city government in an open and transparent manner and these meetings are just one component of that promise," Stimpson said. "My hope is that we can gather together as neighbors and share ideas about how we can move Mobile forward."

The first meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, March 31, at Dauphin Way United Methodist Church, 1507 Dauphin Street in Mobile.

Subsequent meetings will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, April 7, at New Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 2756 Old Shell Road in Mobile, and at 6 p.m. Monday, April 14, at Christ United Methodist Church, 6101 Grelot Road in Mobile.

Additional meetings are being scheduled across Mobile and will be announced in the coming weeks. All meetings are free and open to the public. For more information, contact Shayla Beaco, senior director of operations and community affairs, at 251-208-7807.
