Mayor Sam Jones Centralizes City Financial Information for Easier Access

Mobile Mayor Sam Jones has instructed staff to create an easy format for citizens to access the city’s financial information. Citizens can now review a comprehensive list of financial information at http://www.cityofmobile.org/financials.php, or by clicking on Financial Information on the front page of the city's website.

Previously, most of the financial information was located on the Finance and Accounting departments’ webpage. The new addition to the financial information will include a weekly payment register and the city’s bond rating from Moody’s and Standard/Poor’s rating agencies.

The City's annual Operating Budget details projected revenues and expenditures for the operations of City services for the coming fiscal year.

Capital Improvement, Strategic Fund and other budgets

The City's Capital Improvement, Strategic Fund and other budgets is a benchmark that identifies future projects and cost estimates that allow City staff to properly plan for future capital improvements throughout the City.

Comprehensive Audited Annual Financial Report

The Comprehensive Audited Annual Financial Report (CAAFR) is an independent, thorough and detailed presentation of the City's financial condition for the past fiscal year.

Monthly Financial Report

The Monthly Financial Report is the Finance Director’s monthly presentation to the Mobile City Council on the City's internal control over financial reporting and on compliance and other matters based on an audit of financial statements.

Weekly Check Registry

The City’s Accounting Department prints between 200 to 400 checks a week for services, contract obligations and products. Those checks are listed weekly on a comprehensive registry.

City’s Bond Rating:

The city receives a favorable bond rating from two of the nation's top rating agencies. The bond rating affects the city's interest rate and borrowing ability.
