Mayor Sam Jones and The City Council Renames African American Heritage Trail In Honor Of The Late Dora Franklin Finley

A unanimous vote of the Mobile City Council – and endorsed by Mayor Sam Jones in renaming the African American Heritage Trail the “Dora Franklin Finley African American Heritage Trail.” Ms. Finley, who was a noted historian and visionary leader, was on the forefront of creating the city’s first historic trail that marks the contributions and achievements of countless African Americans from Mobile. Ms. Finley died last year. On hand to accept the city’s commemorative gesture was Michael Hervey, incoming president AAHT; Jocelyn Finley Hervey, sister, Karlos and Michael Finley, brothers.
