Mayor Jones Welcomes New Waterfront Attraction, the Harbor Lady
Nov 8th, 2011
The Mobile waterfront is soon to get a new attraction: a luxury ship, the Harbor Lady, has selected Mobile as a winter destination for its dinner and sightseeing cruises along local waterways.City officials, in conjunction with the Mobile Bay Convention and Visitors Bureau, announced Tuesday that the Harbor Lady, a family-owned business, would be docking at the Mobile Convention Center from November 15 through May 15, 2012.
“Mobile is a nautical city, with a rich maritime history,” said City of Mobile Mayor Sam Jones. “Our waterfront is such an asset, so we’re excited to have the Harbor Lady in our city to offer quality dinner and sightseeing cruises to showcase its beauty.”
Captain David Graves, owner of the passenger cruise line, and his five-member crew arrived in Mobile last week. With its home port in Sturgeon Bay, Wis., Capt. Graves said the trip to Mobile took around 15 days.
“We offer a very neat perspective for passengers to see Mobile in a different way,” said Captain Graves. “There’s not another vessel like the Harbor Lady here in Mobile, so it’s a good location for us. We’re really excited to be here!”
