Mayor Jones Reports on Trip to Europe

Jul 25th, 2006

At today’s City Council meeting, Mayor Sam Jones reported on his recent trip to Europe in a quest to improve our existing international business relationships and to make a few new ones. During this seven day journey, he visited several EADS facilities – one in London, two in Spain and one in France.

Company officials are working to win a contract with the U.S. Air Force to build planes in a similar facility in Mobile. Mayor Jones said one thing in particular stood out when talking to workers at the facilities.

“They truly believe that they are the best in the world at what they do,” said Mayor Jones. “We are very excited about bringing that attitude to Mobile.”

Also at today’s meeting, Councilman Fred Richardson introduced a group of volunteers who are in Mobile to take part in the week-long Catholic HEART Workcamp. More than 350 teenagers are here to repair homes, help at social agencies and provide valuable assistance to communities in need.
