Mayor Jones, Mobile Works Host Workforce Development Luncheon

Mobile Mayor Sam Jones, along with Mobile Works held a Workforce Development Luncheon with local company presidents and CEOs to discuss solutions to solving such workforce development issues as a lack of skilled labors for aerospace and maritime industries.

"We are here with one goal - to make our workforce as capable and competitive as possible," said Mayor Jones. "This is a coordinated approach. We have people from all over this area, because everyone is dedicated to attracting new businesses."

Tim Alford, director of the Alabama Office of Workforce Development gave the keynote speech. He said the number one factor for a company choosing an area to relocate to is its workforce readiness. He praised the mayor for his aggressiveness in improving Mobile’s workforce.

Afterward, there was an open discussion on the issues and actions needed to help Mobile prepare for the future as it relates to workforce development issues.
