Mayor Jones Honors Veterans Day Essay Contest Winner

Mayor Sam Jones welcomed the winner of this year's Veterans Day Essay Contest. She is Amelia Nolan, a fourth-grade student in Mrs. Patricia Johnston’s class at Dixon Elementary School.

Each year the Mobile Bay Area Veterans Day Commission sponsors an essay contest following the Veterans Day Parade of Flags ceremony held on Veterans Day. The 4th graders who were chosen to represent their schools are asked to write an essay on what the experience meant to him/her.

For winning the contest, Amelia has won a $200 Savings Bond and a $150 Cashier’s Check for her 4th grade class.
