Mayor Jones Honors October Officer of the Month

Officer Michael Maxey, who has served as a Mobile police officer since 2010, currently serves in the Fourth Precinct has been awarded the honor of Officer of the Month for his exceptional performance during the month of October.

The following is an example of the incidents that earned Officer Maxey the distinction of Officer of the Month:

On October 15, 2012, Officer Maxey was patrolling the area of Azalea Road and Michael Boulevard when he noticed a vehicle that was possibly used in a robbery. Officer Maxey followed the suspects’ vehicle when the suspects began a pursuit. After Officer Maxey and a backing officer were able to stop the vehicle, they were able to take the suspects into custody.

A thorough search of the suspects’ vehicle yielded a gun which had been used in a previous robbery. Further investigation revealed the suspects were responsible for other robberies in the area, including a robbery with a kidnapping victim.

During the month of October, Officer Maxey amassed seven felony and seven misdemeanor arrests and issued 16 citations. He responded to 85 calls for service and backed 40 calls. Officer Maxey’s dedication to duty and attention to detail has brought credit upon himself and the Mobile Police Department.
