Mayor Jones Honors June Officer of the Month

Mayor Jones presented Detective Kenneth Gillespie, who has served with the Mobile Police Department since 2006, with the Officer of the Month award for exceptional performance during the month of June.

The following arrests earned Detective Gillespie the distinction of Officer of the Month:

On June 2, 2012 between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m., three individual robberies were reported within a confined area of Mobile. In each case, three armed subjects approached the victims and demanded property before leaving the scene in a gold sedan.

Through careful investigation that same night, Detective Gillespie, along with another detective, were able to determine the area in which the vehicle may be. They were able to track down the vehicle, detain two of the three robbery suspects as well as recover property taken from the victims. The third suspect was later identified and arrested as well.

During the month of June, Detective Gillespie was assigned eight cases with seven being cleared, giving him an 87.5% clearance rate. Detective Gillespie’s dedication to duty and attention to detail has brought credit upon himself and the Mobile Police Department.
