Mayor Issues Toys for Tots Challenge

Mayor Samuel L. Jones and the City of Mobile will join the United States Marine Corps with their Toys for Tots Drive to assist less fortunate families in Mobile. The City will set up toy drop-off sites at Government Plaza, all Police Precincts and Mini Police Precincts and at all Fire Stations throughout the City. Several activities and challenges will be held to make the drive successful and give all citizens an opportunity to participate. A basketball tournament will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2008, inter-departmental challenges will be held to see who collects the most toys.

Mr. Bill Harkins, a retired US Marine will be the spokesperson for the City of Mobile for the Toys for Tots Drive. Any citizen or business wishing to sponsor an event to assist the Toys for Tots Drive can contact Mr. Harkins at (251) 208-7131, or the Mayor’s Office of Strategic Initiatives at (251) 208-1936. The Toys for Tots Drive will start Tuesday, December 2, 2008 and end Wednesday, December 17, 2008. We are asking all citizens who are able to assist the City of Mobile to make Christmas merrier for those less fortunate families, let’s show them that we care. All toys donated must be new and in their original packing.
