Mayor, Council Remember Visionary Businessman

Aug 6th, 2013

Just weeks ago, Mobile celebrated the announcement of a major retail development, McGowin Park, that will be coming to the Hank Aaron Stadium area. Mayor Sam Jones, the City Council, the Mobile County Commission and many city departments worked with the Hutton Company to make this complex a reality. The man at the middle was Steve Tingle, an U.S. Army veteran and accomplished real estate executive. Based out of Chattanooga, Tennessee, he spent a lot of time in Mobile working on the McGowin Park project. His hard work paid off when both the Mobile City Council and Mobile County Commission made agreements to sign off on the development.

Sadly, on Saturday, August 3, Steve passed suddenly at his home. At the City Council meeting on Tuesday, August 6, Mayor Jones and the City Council presented a resolution to Steve's business partners to honor his effort and vision. The McGowin Park project will continue as a legacy to Steve and the commitment he made to Mobile.

Steve is survived by his wife, Malinda, two daughters, and a host of other relatives and loved ones.
