Mayor, City Council Honor Henry Chester Williams Sr.

At the August 21 City Council meeting, Mayor Sam Jones, Councilmen Fred Richardson and William Carroll recognized Henry Chester Williams, Sr. with a proclamation. Mr. Williams has become a legend in his own time as a pioneer in the field of welding, he is Mobile's only male midwiferer, he is a professor of welding and was a decorated soldier of World War II. He founded Williams Welding and Industrial Trade Center in 1946. His students helped build the USS Alabama. His trade schools are located in Mobile, Prichard, and Mon Louis Island.
