MAWSS Announces 2013 “Fun with Water” Watercolor Contest

Apr 19th, 2013

Mobile Area Water and Sewer System (MAWSS) is calling young artists to tap into their artistic side for the seventh annual “Fun with Water” Watercolor Contest. The competition asks children and teens in grades K-12, to paint a picture of their favorite summer activity involving water. It can be a day at the beach, fishing, canoeing or just splashing in the pool. The goal is to get everyone thinking about the role clean water plays in our daily lives.

Prizes will be awarded in four grade categories, K-2, 3-5, 6-8 and 9-12 with one overall winner. All winners will receive gift certificates to Bel Air Mall. In addition, the grand prize winner’s school or community organization will also receive a gift certificate. The contest deadline is June 7. All entries will be on display at Bel Air Mall, June 10-24, and winning artwork will be displayed in the lobby of MAWSS’ Catherine Street location.

“Clean water is essential to our quality of life,” said Barbara Shaw, MAWSS’ Public Affairs Manager. “This contest helps illustrate how many ways we depend on it, especially for recreation. It’s always fun to see the wide variety of water related activities that interest the students.”
