Market on the Square Opens for Spring Season on Saturday

Apr 21st, 2008

Market on the Square, one of the two City sponsored farmers’ markets, will open this year’s spring season on Saturday, April 26th from 7:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Cathedral Square in downtown Mobile. The Square provides an idyllic setting against which vendors set up booths to sell locally grown fruits, vegetables, cut flowers, plants, breads, casseroles, seafood, wine, honey, and much, much more. In addition, specialty vendors will be on hand to sell jewelry, candles, pottery, pillows and other handcrafted goods.

To make everyone’s stay that much more comfortable, there will be live music, games on the green and selected special events that will coincide with Market days throughout the season. There are benches, tables around the fountain and outdoor seating at both Spot of Tea and Heroes to make shopping at the market and staying downtown a morning-long event. Parking along the streets of downtown is free on the weekends.

The Market runs each Saturday through July 26th.

Market on the Square is a public market initiative of the City of Mobile’s Neighborhood & Community Services Department.
