Major Clean Up This Weekend at Langan Park

Oct 19th, 2006

The makeover of Langan Park continues this weekend with a major clean up from an unlikely source. Judge Rusty Johnston has initiated a cooperative effort from the Mobile Community Corrections Center and the City of Mobile Parks and Recreation Department.

Community Corrections Center employees, community service workers and Metro Jail inmates will be providing the labor for the clean up while Parks and Recreation employees provide the equipment. Some of their activities will include clearing out non-native trees, mowing, hauling away limbs and trash and cleaning up the shoreline around the lake.

The 50 – 75 workers will be at the park between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. this Saturday, October 21, 2006. Langan Park will remain open, but the clean up activities are NOT open to the public.

This clean up is another step in the beautification and improvements at Langan Park. Other initiatives included the pedestrian bridge, the upcoming completion of the boundless playground, and the removal of hundreds of geese and ducks.
