Made-in-Mobile Movie Nominated for Two Golden Globe Awards

Mobile, Ala.-- The film "Get Out", made in Mobile, is up for two awards during the upcoming 75th Golden Globe Awards ceremony Sunday night. The film is nominated for Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy and the star, Daniel Kaluuya, is nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in A Motion Picture - Musical Or Comedy.

The film was also named best movie by the International Film Festival, the African American Film Critics Association and the Southeastern Films Critics Association earning more than $175 million at the box office.

Director Jordan Peele was also recognized by The New York Film Critics for Best First Film and by the National Board of Review for Best Directorial Debut.

The film industry in Mobile has produced more than 200 movies, televisions shows and commercials. During any given project, approximately 100 local people are hired for film crew in addition to those who relocate to Mobile temporarily during filming.
