LoDa ArtWalk Celebrates 3 Year Anniversary

Jul 7th, 2008

The LoDa ArtWalk in downtown Mobile will celebrate its 3 year anniversary on Friday, July 11th.

From 6 until 9 p.m. in the Cathedral Square Arts District. What started out as a small affair with only 7 venues in July 2005, this monthly event held each second Friday, has grown to host more than double that with 18 downtown galleries, studios, and unique shops opening its doors; supporting local artists and inviting the public to see. The gallery hop has extended west down Dauphin towards Washington with Cathedral Square Gallery; north with the Blind Mule; east with the addition of Serda’s Coffee and south with the opening of Parkside Home and Garden.

Originally designed to bridge the gap between Arts Alive events in downtown, this event has helped to showcase what an active arts community Mobile has. It also serves as a family friendly event that bridges the gap between the lull of after 5 and the late night festivities for which Dauphin Street is famous.

The event is free of charge. Of particular interest this month is: the opening of Space 301’s newly renovated building showcasing the People’s Art Show, Roman Street playing under the stars in Cathedral Square, and birthday cake at Three George’s!
