Letter to Residents West of I-65 Concerning Automated Garbage

Mar 25th, 2005

Dear City of Mobile Resident:

We are pleased to inform you that the Public Works department will soon implement an automated garbage collection system in your neighborhood.  This process will help keep your neighborhood neater, provide safer working conditions for our employees, improve efficiency, and save money.

In the near future, the Public Works department will deliver to your address a specially designed *96-gallon cart, large enough to hold a week's garbage.  A skilled equipment operator driving a truck equipped with a mechanical arm that will be able to lift and empty your cart automatically will service your route once per week.

Look for more information on this exciting new program in the months ahead.

Sincerely,

Michael C. Dow

*A smaller, 64-gallon container is available upon request.  Sample carts will be on display from March 14-April 8 at the locations listed below.  Only the households from which we receive a request will receive a 64-gallon cart instead of the 96-gallon cart.  Request cards will be available at each of the display locations.  If you are not able to view the carts, but know that your household needs the smaller 64-gallon cart please send a written request for the smaller cart to: City of Mobile, Public Works Director, P.O. Box 1827, Mobile, AL 36633.
