Learn How to Hire Youth

Feb 6th, 2018

Mobile, Ala.-- The City of Mobile is providing a webinar on February 7 for businesses to learn how to hire youth this summer. Companies can register for the Youth Empowered for Success (YES) webinar online by answering a short questionnaire.

Companies and organizations who participate in Mayor Stimpson's YES Initiative can hire youth directly or register to have the City administer payroll and liability services for youth to work up to 120 hours at minimum wage from June 4 through July 28. The City will also provide job skills training.

"Make a small investment for a big return," said Mayor Stimpson. "Business involvement is essential in building tomorrow's workforce. Youth who have a meaningful work experience are more likely to be engaged, connect with their community and complete school. We need Mobile businesses to hire a young person this summer"

Through a partnership with the City of Gulf Shores, the University of South Alabama, Baldwin County Transportation System(BRATS) and the Gulf Shores tourism industry, 300 job positions will also be available to Mobile students in the Gulf Shores area. The City of Mobile will also be providing 100 job positions for youth this summer.
