Kid's Day in the Park is a Success

Jun 17th, 2004

MOBILE - It is a beautiful, sunny day so it’s time to take the kids out of the house to pet a goat, touch a slimy octopus, and make a necklace at Kids Day in Bienville Square. Kid’s Day is a program for kids and parents every Thursday from 10:00 a.m. till 1:00 p.m. through the month of June.

What do kids get to see? Plenty of clowns blowing up balloons, face painting, arts and crafts and a petting zoo where the kids are put nose to nose with goats, rabbits, chickens, and a miniature pony.

In the center of Bienville Square, Professor Zounds impresses the kids with sound effects and telling jokes. Dauphin Island Sea Lab's table of sea creatures and fish featuring Toadfish, Octopus, sharks and crabs give kids a chance to touch and learn about the animals.

Groups of summer camps, schools, and churches bring kids down to Bienville Square and take advantage of the event that is free to the public. A director from Wilson Avenue Christian School says, we come every week because it is a way to take all the kids on a free fieldtrip.
