Keep Mobile Beautiful Hosts Share and Shred Day

Nov 9th, 2012

Keep Mobile Beautiful has partnered with Goodwill Easter Seals and the Bay Area Food Bank to sponsor the first annual

Share and Shred Day
Thursday, November 15
11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Metro Recycling Drop-Off Center

Out-of-date documents will be shredded by Goodwill Easter Seals in exchange for non-perishable food donations to the Bay Area Food Bank.

“It is the time of the year when we begin preparing for the Holidays by cleaning around the house,” says Donna Brown, President of Keep Mobile Beautiful. “It is also time to think of those less fortunate by donating to local charities such as the Bay Area Food Bank.”

The Share and Shred Day is part of America Recycles Day at the Metro Recycling Center. Recyclers will be treated to popcorn and drinks as they stroll through displays presented by local recycling providers. Visitors will also be able to register for door prizes, including a variety of home or office recycling bins.

“Materials for shredding are limited to personal documents only” according to Bob Haskins, Coordinator of Keep Mobile Beautiful. “Materials will be collected by secure data destruction staff, shredded, and recycled into useful paper products.”

The shredding service is free for Mobile area residents and will be limited to three small boxes or three paper grocery-sized bags of out-of-date documents. Participants are asked to donate three or more canned goods and/or non-perishable items per bag or box of documents.

The Metro Recycling Drop-Off Center is located at 1451 Government Street.
