Keep Mobile Beautiful Gears Up for Great American Cleanup - Video

Apr 16th, 2009

Want to help stimulate Mobile’s economy? How about being a stimulus for Mobile’s tourist industry? A clean community is a healthy community and will attract businesses, tourists and new Mobilians. Keep Mobile Beautiful, now more than ever, wants to mobilize Mobilians to get up and take action. Conduct a litter cleanup event in your neighborhood, around your church or business, or anywhere litter has accumulated.

“Cleaning up litter is one of the easiest ways to create a more inviting environment for both residents and visitors,” according to Carol Hunter, president of Keep Mobile Beautiful. “Clean communities tell everyone ‘this place matters’.”

Environmental stewards of all ages and walks of life are encouraged to join KMB for our

21st annual
GREAT AMERICAN CLEANUP

The primary focus of the Great American Cleanup is on the environment, and it is our individual responsibility to take care of our earth by taking care of our own community. Volunteers from businesses, churches, schools, neighborhood groups, Scout troops, civic organizations, non-profit groups, professional groups and individuals are needed to help pick up litter any time during April and May. It’s time for all of us to work together to rid our streets, waterways and public spaces of litter.

According to Keep America Beautiful, it is expected that over 3 million volunteers across America will join forces in nearly 17,000 communities to remove litter and to plant trees and flowers.

Keep Mobile Beautiful will supply a special clean up kit with GLAD Trash Bags, gloves, safety vests and litter grabbers for any groups or individuals who register for a cleanup.

It’s easy to get involved!

1. Call KMB at 208-6029 for a registration form to reserve your cleanup kit.
2. You and your team can select the location of your litter cleanup and a convenient time to do it.
3. Pick up your supplies from the KMB office at 1451 Government Street between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

So, join in, take action and help clean up Mobile!
