It's Time to Stuff the Bus

Nov 24th, 2008

The Wave Transit System is sponsoring its 2nd annual Stuff the Bus campaign by collecting toys for children on Saturday, December 6, 2008, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Midtown Wal-Mart at Springdale Boulevard and I-65.

The children who will benefit are being served by Penelope House, which was established in 1979. Penelope House offers shelter for battered women and children, as well as onsite medical care, counseling, transitional living, and victims support groups.

Penelope House sees over 1000 women and children each year. During a year they expect to see 500 to 700 children.

Tyrone Parker, General Manager of The Wave Transit System says he expects to fill the 29 foot City of Mobile bus again this year. “I know that our staff and the citizens of Mobile will respond by bringing a toy to children who really need to feel the love and generous spirit of our community. This is a great opportunity for The Wave Transit to pay back to the community for the support given to The Wave Transit all year long.”

Prior to December 6, 2008, anyone can drop off a toy donation at The Wave Transit office at 110 Beauregard Street, Suite 104, or at 1224 West I-65 Service Road South.
