It's Easy to Be Ungreasy!

In the Deep South, all things deep fried lead to a whole lot of grease. And then the big question - where does it all go? The City of Mobile, MAWSS and Keep Mobile Beautiful hope it won't go down the drain. That's why we are introducing our residential Grease Recycling Program - It's Easy to be Ungreasy.

The program will help keep the Mobile area environment healthy by preventing costly sanitary sewer overflows. Starting now, grease recycling containers can be picked up at grease recycling locations throughout Mobile. Once the containers are full, they can be dropped off at the same locations. MAWSS will see that the grease is properly disposed of and recycled. Residents can also bring their own sealed containers of grease to the recycling locations.

The used cooking grease will initially be collected at Keep Mobile Beautiful and MAWSS offices, and then recycled by Birmingham Hide and Tallow Co, Inc. into biodiesel fuel or rendered products for use in animal feeds, pet food and industrial formulations.
