Intelligence Against Violence and Drugs Task Force Unveiled in Mobile

Aug 3rd, 2006

“You can run, but you can’t hide.”

That’s message that Mobile law enforcement officials are sending drug dealers with the establishment of the Intelligence Against Violence and Drugs (IVAD) task force.

IVAD is made up of the Mobile District Attorney’s Office, the Mobile Police Department, the Prichard Police Department, the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office and the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration. Other municipalities and organizations are voicing their interest IVAD.

The program allows each agency to tap into the same database of information on criminals. This way, they will be better able to track criminal activity if they are crossing into other jurisdictions. This is the most high-tech and widespread cooperation of its kind in the United States.

Officers and prosecutors will be able to look at pictures, videos, find out background information and track the history of criminals.
