Dear Danette:

            The Mitchell Company is proud to announce that it has been selected as the sole developer for the HOPE VI GRANT. The Prichard Housing Authority received this grant from HUD.  The purpose of the grant is to demolish the Bessemer Avenue Apartments (360 Units) and to rebuild an equivalent number of houses and apartments.  The total dollar value of this work is in excess of $60,000,000.

            The Mitchell Company's development agreement requires it to award 20% of all contracts for labor, material and services to qualified minority owned businesses (MBE) and to qualified women owned businesses (WBE).  The purpose of this letter is to encourage you to bid on this work.  If you have not been certified as a MBE/WBE by a government agency, the Mitchell Company can certify you by completing a two page form.  Please call Robette Abdo at 380-2929 to obtain a copy of the form.  We encourage you to become certified as soon as possible since the plans for phase one will be available for bid on September 30, 2003.

            The Mitchell Company's development agreement further requires it to award $5,000,000 in contracts to businesses who employ (at least 30 per cent of the work force) persons who are (1) residents of Bessemer Avenue Apartments (2) public housing residents or (3) individuals who make at least 80 per cent of the area median income ($37,760).  You can qualify for this category of work by completing a one page form.  Please call Robette Abdo at 380-2929 to obtain a copy of the form.

            A list of the contracting opportunities is attached to this letter.  This is a four year building program and we encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity.
