Harmon Rec Center Wins ARPA State Basketball Tourney

The Alabama Recreation and Parks Association held its annual state tournament March 11-13, in Gadsden, Alabama. The Mobile Parks and Recreation Department sent six championship teams to participate.

Harmon Recreation Center won the 12 & Under Boys championship, defeating Anniston 44-43 in the finals. Earlier, they defeated Huntsville Northern 58-49, Haleyville 43-28, and Dothan 61-52.

Juan Caples scored 25 points in the finals and 17 and 19 points in earlier games.

Trinity Gardens finished second in the 10 & Under Boys division, losing in the finals 39-30 to Madison County. Earlier, they defeated Dadeville, 44-17, Andalusia, 49-44 and Sylacauga 46-32. Leading was scorer Nicholas Fowler.

The Mobile Legacy, 8 & Under Boys, won two games defeating Russellville 30-23 and Limestone County 38-14. They lost in the semi-finals 35-24 to Mountain Brook. The Leading scorer was Jordan Ingram.

In the 14 & Under Boys division, Kidd Park defeated Lanett 54-33, then lost to Birmingham 46-40. The 10 & Under Girls, Mobile Vikings, lost to Morgan County 30-11 and Springhill’s 12 & Under Girls lost to Boaz 43-23 in their opening games.
