Groundbreaking Held for Renaissance Plaza on Broad Street

Jul 22nd, 2013

A groundbreaking ceremony was held Monday, July 22, 2013 for Renaissance Plaza near the intersection of Broad and Congress Streets in downtown Mobile. Renaissance Plaza will be an attractive, well-landscaped and well-maintained retail facility that will serve as a focal point for residents of the MLK Avenue and downtown Mobile communities. In addition to providing some of the basic conveniences common to most urban neighborhoods, Renaissance Plaza will enhance the Broad Street corridor, create over sixty employment opportunities for area residents, be a catalyst for future commercial development, and generate a continuous stream of sales and property tax revenues.

The City of Mobile’s master improvement plan, A New Plan for Mobile, specifically targets the selected site as improving the quality of neighborhood life for communities around the Government Street/Board Street Corridor.
