Grand Opening of Pfc. Howard Johnson II Park

Honoring One of Our Own

Private First Class Howard Johnson II was killed in action March 23, 2003 when his unit was ambushed in Iraq. Now, family and friends of the 21 year old LeFlore High School graduate will celebrate his life with the grand opening Saturday, April 17, 2004 at 9:00 a.m. of Pfc. Howard Johnson II Park in Mobile’s Morningside Community.

District 4 Mobile City Councilman Ben Brooks, Council President Reggie Copeland, Mayor Mike Dow, representatives from LeFlore High School and Johnson’s church will join the Johnson family to dedicate the park to the young man’s memory.

The Public is invited to attend this dedication at the park, formerly called Gulfhaven Park, located off Navco Road.
