Girl Scouts kickoff fall with festival Oct. 16

Mobile, Ala. -- Girl Scouts will welcome fall with a day of activities at the Deep South Council's 4th annual Fall Festival Saturday, Oct. 16 at Dayspring Baptist Church on Cody Road.

More than 2,000 people are expected to attend the event, which will be from 10 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. More than 1,000 pre-registrations have been received for this year's festival. Last year, more than 1,500 girls and adults participated.

Origami, glamour photos, face painting, karaoke, crafts and writing letters to military overseas will be among the more than 30 booths and activities featured at the festival. Community groups also will provide information and entertainment.

Community groups and businesses participating include: Starbucks, the University of South Alabama's Kappa Delta Sorority, Keep Mobile Beautiful, Family Counseling Center , Teledyne Continental Motors and Dayspring Baptist Church.

Local celebrities making special appearances at the festival include the Mobile Azalea Trail Maids.

A $3 admission will be charged at the gate for the public and Girl Scouts who have not turned in on-time registrations.  

Girl Scouts of the Deep South Council, a United Way agency, serves girls in the following eight Southwest Alabama counties: Mobile, Baldwin, Washington, Clarke, Choctaw, Monroe, Conecuh and Escambia.
