Get Involved with the Keep Mobile Beautiful Great American Cleanup
Apr 10th, 2013
During the month of April, hundreds of volunteers from across the Mobile area will lend a hand to spruce up their streets, parks, neighborhoods and waterways. Keep Mobile Beautiful has joined the Great American Cleanup campaign during the month of April. And it's coming to a neighborhood near YOU!
It is the Great American Cleanup, Mobile style! The GAC is the nation's leading litter cleanup event, sponsored nationally by Keep America Beautiful! In Mobile, we need help to enlist volunteers from news organizations, neighborhoods, schools, churches, businesses, civic organizations, fraternities, sororities, professional organizations and many more. We need hundreds and hundreds of volunteers!
It is so easy to lend a hand to help clean up neglected areas around town.
We are calling on volunteers to join the effort to clean-up their neighborhoods during the month of April. To help make this national initiative a local success, Keep Mobile Beautiful is providing each group with cleanup supplies including trash bags, litter grabbers, gloves and safety vests.
Registration is free and easy! To form a team or volunteer, contact Keep Mobile Beautiful at 251-208-6029.
Here is what you do:
• Enlist your friends, neighbors or co-workers to help
• Decide on the area you want to clean up and the day and time you want to do it
• Let us know and we will reserve a cleanup kit for you to use
• Then do your cleanup and let us know how you did when you return the cleanup kit.
This year’s local Great American Cleanup will take place in neighborhoods all over the Mobile area. In addition to the special cleanups during April, our big community Great American Cleanup will focus its efforts on cleaning up littered portions of Dauphin Island Parkway from I-10 to the Dog River Bridge. The cleanup will be on Saturday, April 27, 2013 from 8:00 am – 12:00 pm. The staging area will be in the parking lot of B.C. Rain High School – 3125 Dauphin Island Parkway, Mobile, Ala. 36605.
Join Keep Mobile Beautiful, City of Mobile, Partners for Environmental Progress (PEP), Mobile Gas, Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce, Mobile County Public School System, Holcim USA, Inc., and hundreds of volunteers as they work together for a cleaner, greener Mobile.
