Free Paper Recycling Options

Dec 10th, 2012

Mixed paper, including newspapers, magazines, junk mail, and phone books make up about 33% of our household garbage. Recycling that paper makes good sense because less landfill space is used and the paper can be turned into more useful paper products.

In Mobile, residents have several free options for recycling paper from home or the office.

 The Metro Mobile Recycling Drop Off Center located at 1451 Government Street is open seven days a week and accepts mixed paper and cardboard and 12 other materials for recycling. Visit www.cityofmobile.org/recycle for more information.

 Recycled Fibers sponsors about 200 Paper Recycling Drop Boxes around the city for mixed paper and cardboard. For a drop box located near your home or office visit www.cityofmobile.org/pdf/paperrecycling.pdf. The drop boxes are for mixed paper only.

 Goodwill Easter Seals offers a free recycling drop-off event at Baker High School on the last Saturday of each month. Volunteers will help you unload from 8:00 – 12 noon.

 Recyclers can sell their paper to Mobile Paperboard located at 701 Mobile Street in Crichton. They accept mixed paper and cardboard only, 7 days a week from 7:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. Recyclers will be paid for paper and cardboard at that location only!
