FREE CHRISTMAS TREE MULCH THIS SATURDAY

Thousands of old Christmas trees have been collected to be turned into mulch for area gardeners.

The mulch will be distributed Saturday, January 11 beginning at 7:30 a.m. from the Greater Gulf State Fairgrounds at the corner of Ziegler and Cody Road in west Mobile.

Using mulch in flowerbeds is a great way to return valuable nutrients to the soil, retain moisture, and reduce weed growth.Bring a truck, trailer, bucket or bag and load up on a first come, first served basis. The City of Mobile Public Works crews will be on hand to load trucks and trailers or you may bring a shovel and load your own. Trucks and trailers must be covered with a tarp before leaving.
