First Night Mobile 2001

The Gulf Coast is getting geared up for Mobile's 10th annual First Night Mobile, a nonalcoholic New Year's Eve celebration of the arts featuring more than 70 performances in downtown Mobile, Sunday, December 31, 2000. This year's theme is "First Night Mobile 2001: An Arts Odyssey."

Families throughout Mobile and surrounding areas will be taking over downtown Mobile to bring the new year in with dancing, comedy skits, theater, hands-on art projects, children's activities, visual art exhibits, and a variety of musical acts for the classical, gospel, folk, jazz, bluegrass, country, rhythm 'n' blues, and rock music lovers.

Scheduled to perform at this year's event are such acts as Luma, Celestial Navigations, Three-On-A-String and the Alabama Blues Project.

Admission buttons are $7 in advance and $10 at the gate. Children 6 years old and under are admitted free. Buttons may be purchased at area Delchamps grocery stores and various branches of local banks.
