Fire-Rescue to Burn House for Training

Mar 10th, 2009

The Mobile Fire-Rescue Department’s Training Division will be burning a house as part of training on Thursday, March 12. The house is located at 1104 Basil Street. Fire Officials will begin prepping the structure for burning at approximately 8 a.m.

A representative from Hiller Systems, Inc. will also be on site to give a brief demonstration and test a new firefighting product called StatX First Responder, which is designed to aid in the suppression of confined space fires, shipboard fires, vehicle fires etc. It is physically and functionally similar to a smoke grenade with a major difference being that it delivers a highly effective fire suppression agent.

The Training Division has tentatively scheduled to burn two more houses later in the month.
