Filming of the Novice Begins

May 24th, 2004

If you see movie cameras around the city of Mobile, don’t be surprised. A new movie called the Novice is under production. Scott Lumpkin and Murray Robinson are filming a romantic comedy about a young Jesuit Seminarian who comes to Mobile for his studies.

Murray Robinson is a native of Mobile. He attended New York University and has spent the last ten years writing, producing and directing commercials. In 2000 he founded the Chickasabogue Film Company and is dedicated to shooting films along the Gulf Coast of Alabama. “Novice” is Robinson’s first feature film and will be shot entirely in the Mobile area.

Scott Lumpkin is the producer and is also a native of this area. Lumpkin has worked with more than 20 movies, and has maintained a local office. His office has been working with the Mobile Film Office to develop and bring movies to this area.

Robinson and Lumpkin will introduce themselves to the Mobile City Council at the regular Tuesday meeting, May 25, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. They will be prepared to discuss the economic benefits to the city of filming movies in the area.
