Fact Sheet: Mayor Stimpson streamlines procurement process to include diverse suppliers

Feb 25th, 2016

"For the first time in our City's history, we have an active and purposeful supplier diversity program. In order to truly realize One Mobile, we must endeavor to include everyone who is competitive, competent and capable in our process. " – Mayor Stimpson

Mayoral Action:
Mayor Stimpson created the City's very first Supplier Diversity Program to help minority, women and disadvantaged business enterprises overcome challenges that make it more difficult to win contracts and work on City projects. Since its inception, the Supplier Diversity Office has launched its first online vendor portal, hosted its first Industry Day and will be holding its first Vendor Town Hall next month.

Supplier Diversity Office:

  • For bid information and contract opportunities, contact the City Procurement Department at 251-208-7434 and purchasing@cityofmobile.org.

  • For questions regarding supplier diversity, vendor matchmakers, vendor certification, or other vendor outreach opportunities, contact the City of Mobile Supplier Diversity Manager, Archnique Kid, at Archnique.kidd@cityofmobile.org and 251-208-7967.

  • All City business opportunities can be found on the online bid page at: www.cityofmobile.org/bids.

Vendor Online Portal:

  • The City has a new online vendor portal that allows vendors to maintain their profile with the City and conduct other City business.

  • Vendors who have done business with the City of Mobile already have a record file there.

  • Over the course of the next two weeks, the City will be sending letters to these vendors that includes their new username, password, directions on how to log into their account, and basic information on how to use the portal.

  • All vendors who do not receive a letter, should contact purchasing@cityofmobile.org or call 251-208-7434 for assistance on finding their account information and setting up their account.

  • Existing vendors do not need to register again.

  • All new vendors interested in doing business with the City can self-register at https://mobileselfservice.tylertech.com/.

Vendor Town Hall:

  • The City of Mobile will host its very first Vendor Town Hall on Wednesday, March 9, 2016, from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at the auditorium in Government Plaza.

  • Attendees will learn more about the City's new vendor self-service portal, the City's supplier diversity program, upcoming City business opportunities and vendor engagement programs.

  • The town hall will be livestreamed on the City of Mobile's website.
