EVACUATION SURVEY TELEPHONE REGISTRY ESTABLISHED

On March 31, 2006, Mobile County (EMA) Emergency Management Agency announced an on-line evacuation survey to help make future plans for evacuations, sheltering and transportation needs during the 2006 hurricane season. The survey, located at www.cityofmobile.org/survey.php, is a simple 11-question survey. The on-line survey is in English and Spanish and will remain on line at least until the end of May.

Beginning Tuesday, April 25 until May 31, Mobile County EMA has partnered with Life Lines Mobile and Boat People SOS to provide a telephone call in version of the survey, as well as, translation services in Vietnamese, Cambodian and Laotian. Those without internet service can call Life Lines Mobile at 431-5111 between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. daily and an operator will assist the caller with filling out the survey.

Anyone needing translation services can go to Boat People SOS, located at 13869 South Wintzell Avenue in Bayou La Bate where translation services in Vietnamese, Cambodian and Laotian will be available to help fill out the survey. These services are free of charge.

All residents of Mobile County are encouraged to fill out the survey. The information will only be used by Mobile County EMA to plan for an emergency evacuation. Completion of this survey does not guarantee that you will have help during an evacuation.
