Dressing up for Success

An 85-page report by the New York-based Project for Public Spaces Inc. will be presented today at 12:30 p.m. at the Mobile Public Library on Government Street. It suggests ways that Mobile could make its downtown area more attractive to visitors. The report was commissioned by Main Street Mobile. Discussion and questions from the public will be encouragd during the presentation. Mobile Mayor Mike Dow said the report suggests ways of "putting on your best clothes, your Sunday best, trying to dress things up and visually make them more attractive ? It's another layer of pulling things together." Some of the report's suggestions include establishing gateways by combining art, landscaping and traffic-calming improvements at key entry points to downtown.
