District 3 Pride Weekend Continues with Community Cleanup

Apr 16th, 2010

The District 3 Pride Weekend, hosted by Mobile City Councilman Jermaine Burrell, will continue on Saturday, April 17, 2010 with a Community-wide Cleanup. Citizens can pick up their cleanup supplies at 8 a.m. at R.V. Taylor Plaza at the corner of Ann and Arlington Streets.

The District 3 Pride Weekend was established to instill a sense of community and respect throughout the district. The site of Ann and Arlington was selected because it has required constant police attention recently. It was the site of a homicide not even one month ago. This cleanup is an opportunity to not only physically cleanup the site, but also to cleanup the reputation of the surrounding neighborhoods.

The District 3 Pride Weekend began Friday morning with a “Respect Our Seniors Breakfast.” It will also include a free showing of Michael Jackson’s “THIS IS IT” on Friday at 6 p.m. at Rickarby Park. It will conclude on Sunday at church services throughout the district who are asked to set aside a moment to pray for the strengthening of our community.
