DISTRICT 2

Thomas Sullivan

Moving in the Right Direction

It has been an honor and privilege for me to serve on the Mobile City Council for the past 16 years. With your assistance, I am proud of the progress that we have made in District 2.

Measures have been taken to eliminate blighted conditions created as a result of abandoned and substandard homes. We began an affordable Homes Program in 1990 to educate and assist people buying their first home.

Recreational facilities have been constructed or upgraded throughout the district to offer our youth, adults and senior citizens a place to develop and enhance their various skills physically, mentally and socially.

Construction projects downtown have created job opportunities for many of our citizens. Local, state, federal and private funds have been utilized to make all of these developments come to fruition. The landscape of downtown has under gone tremendous changes since 1985. I am proud to be part of that renaissance which continues today.

I firmly believe that a city is vibrant when criminal activities and unemployment are low, neighborhoods are well maintained and adequate entertainment venues are available for children and adults to enjoy. The City of Mobile has not reached that status yet, but we are definitely headed in the right direction.
