Deserving Recognition

Jul 30th, 2003

It's not everyday you hear about someone who is so giving and unselfish. But, Ray Roser is just such a man. Mayor Mike Dow recognized Mr. Roser at the July 29, 2003 Mobile City Council meeting for his efforts to help the City of Mobile reduce costs and improve its image as the Tennis Capital of the South.

Roser recently volunteered his time, effort and talents to assist the Mobile Tennis Center by donating his labor to design, construct, waterproof and deliver fifteen umpire chairs. He has also rebuilt thirty court squeegees, fabricated and rebuilt twenty court scorekeepers and is now in the process of constructing fifty court caddy cans. If the City had to buy all of these items, it would cost more than $10-thousand dollars. But, Roser produced all of these for the cost of the materials - about $3-thousand dollars, saving the city more than $7-thousand dollars.

Mayor Dow says Mr. Roser is to be commended for his unselfish volunteer efforts on behalf of his beloved city and our world class tennis facility.
