Curbside Paper Recycling Program Changes Hands
Nov 29th, 2012
Since 2006, The Newark Group – Recycled Fibers – has sponsored a residential curbside paper recycling program. The program began in the Spring Hill and Skyline areas in West Mobile and eventually expanded to about 14,000 households. The collection was provided by the private company as a community service at no cost to the residents or the City of Mobile.
The program collected more that 100 tons of mixed paper a month that was delivered to the local Mobile Paperboard to be recycled and turned into new paper products. The program saved the city collection, disposal and landfill costs.
Around the first of November, The Newark Group sold the program and equipment and bins to Greenie in a Bottle, a local recycling company. At present, the company is in the process of reorganizing and improving the recycling collection system. Unfortunately, the company encountered a few route and equipment issues that have set collection schedules behind.
If you would like to contact Greenie in a Bottle Recycling, email them at greenierecycling@gmail.com or greenieteam@gmail.com or visit them on facebook.
A recent post on the Greenie in a Bottle Recycling Facebook page says …

PAID customers of the $3/wk single - stream program will receive pickups of ALL recyclables, excluding paper, EVERY SATURDAY of each week. PAID customers will also receive bi-weekly paper collection as they are accustomed to receiving from the Newark Group Program...
