Councilwoman Gregory Holds Community Meeting on Safety

Apr 25th, 2006

City Councilwoman Gina Gregory laid out ideas for citizens to keep themselves safe from crime at a community meeting. She was joined by interim Police Chief Lester Hargrove, as well as several other officers from the fourth precinct.

Councilwoman Gregory organized the meeting in response to a string of crimes in and around the Spring Hill area. Chief Hargrove was pleased to announce that they had successfully apprehended the suspects in many of the cases.

The crowd of about 150 learned about initiatives to stop speeders, and ways citizens can protect themselves and their property. Some tips include:

• Write down serial numbers from all personal property
• Check your credit report for any inaccurate information
• Organize Community Action Groups (CAGs) to be proactive as neighbors
• Call the police if you see any odd behavior or possible scams
