Councilman Richardson’s Passage to India

Feb 21st, 2007

City Councilman Fred Richardson is fresh off a trade mission to India, where he spread the word about Mobile in the global marketplace. He was joined on the trip by several dignitaries from around the State of Alabama. Councilman Richardson pointed out that Mobile and India are growing in similar fashions.

“This was a tremendously successful trip, and I look forward to our relationship growing just like our economies,” said Councilman Richardson. “Seeing first-hand the people and culture of India was a great experience. They’re learning about Mobile, and I was happy to bring the message.”

Councilman Richardson’s trip included visiting Mumbai (formerly Bombay), Channai, New Delhi, and Agra, where the famed Taj Mahal is located. He said his main message to those he met in India was Mobile’s transportation accessibility – the close proximity of the deep water port, rail, airport and interstate.
