Convention Comes to Mobile

Jun 30th, 2004

(Mobile, Ala.) - In a year where religious themes and the subject of God have caught the attention of the public, Jehovah's Witnesses will present a series of more than 200 conventions in the United States that will center on the theme "Walk With God." Locally, the three-day event will take place at the Mobile Civic Center, July 2-4, 2004.

An estimated 6,900 people of all ages, races, and backgrounds will hear thought- provoking talks and interviews including what convention overseerer James E. Summerlin calls "practical information for families".

"Persons of all beliefs are invited to attend this convention, whether they have a religious preference or not, to listen to what the Bible teaches about dealing with life's challenges, building happy marriages, successfully rearing children, and adhering to God's standards," Sumerlin said. He continued "all of us are profoundly affected by the times we live in, and we certainly need guidance."

"This will no doubt be an exciting and unforgettable convention," states Thomas J. Rucker, who takes the lead in organizing arrangements for the 59 congregations in the surrounding area. Jehovah's Witnesses are active in 235 lands and number more than 6,400,000 worldwide.
